What is Security as a Service (SecaaS)?

Security as a Service (SecaaS) refers to a model where security services are delivered over the internet, allowing organizations to benefit from various security measures without the need to maintain their own security infrastructure. This approach is a part of the broader trend toward cloud-based solutions, enabling organizations to outsource their security needs to specialized providers who can offer a higher level of expertise and more advanced technologies.

In this model, companies receive managed services such as threat detection, data loss prevention, intrusion detection systems, and other security functionalities that are essential in safeguarding their digital assets. By leveraging SecaaS, organizations can improve their security posture, reduce overhead costs associated with in-house management, and scale their services according to changing requirements.

The other choices do not accurately characterize SecaaS. Delivering internet services for free does not pertain to security but rather to web services. Hardware-based solutions refer specifically to physical devices used for security, which is a different approach from the cloud-based service model.
